Vegan Potluck

My friend J.Lee, an old peace punk had a potluck at his house in Echo Park on Sunday. I hadn't see Jang for about a year or two. Actually the last time I saw him, we performed at a fundraiser for a women's shelter in Santa Ana. I'm glad he contacted me though.
Well back to the vegan potluck, I didn't salivate for meat either...just kidding I can handle occasional dishes without meat or dairy products. The food was great. The guests were interesting and friendly. By the way, Jang and his room mates grow their own vegetables in their backyard(which has a wonderful panoramic view of Los Angeles), kale, broccoli, asparagus, tomatoes, etc.
Check out this vegan pizza made by one of his room mates named Paloma. Check out my stacked plate too. I didn't get to sample the vegan pizza because I was already full. I met all of Jay's room mates except one. One of his room mates, Joel, made some killer dip, oh yeah he also prepared the stir fry too. There wasn't enough. Tasty !! The stir fry was off the chain folks ! But the dip, oooooh the dip, yes the dip, just kidding, consisted of olives, avocado, mushroom, spices, and whipped cream cheese blended together ( oh yeah that's not vegan, at least I don't think so...Joel correct me if I'm wrong on this one)

Happy New Year ! Happy 2006

The new year was pretty mellow for me. I was recovering from the flu. I swear I had the 2007 strand ! I was bedridden for 5 days ! Anyhow, it's a tradition for my aunt Vickie and mother to make gumbo on the 1st of every year. Check out the large pot and by the end of day the gumbo was gone. We had black eyed peas and a assortment of desserts like homemade peach cobbler and my mom's homemade pound cake. Hmmmmm...
